Holistic Admissions Review (AHP-SF124)

What Holistic Review is, what it isn't, how schools use it and how you can help your students. 

This course describes the meaning and use of holistic review in the admission process for health professional programs. The history of holistic review is discussed and its current implementations at different schools is reviewed.

Learning Objectives:

  • Define "holistic review" and differentiate it from a solely quantitative
    admissions process.
  • Understanding the core principles of holistic review and how school mission shapes
    this review.
  • Identifying key factors beyond traditional academic metrics that are considered,
    applying a holistic lens to evaluate applications.
  • Explain holistic review to your students and help them identify school mission.
  • Incorporate evaluating application drafts using holistic review criteria.
